The rising Kenyan beauty and lifestyle creator opens up about motherhood, building a calm corner of the internet, and why she'd rather protect her peace than chase the noise.
Scroll through Linah Johnstone's Instagram and you'll notice something most feeds don't have: quiet. Her content, soft lighting, clean makeup looks, aesthetic stills, feels less like a highlight reel and more like an invitation to slow down. That's not an accident. It's the whole point.
Under the handle @real.linahh, Linah has spent the last while building a space that's calm, beautiful, and unapologetically hers. She didn't set out to follow a formula. She set out to create the kind of content she'd actually want to watch, and somewhere along the way, that honesty became her signature.

What stands out talking to her isn't just the aesthetic sensibility, it's how grounded she is about it. She's a mother navigating the pressures of visibility while still protecting her peace, keeping her circle small, and finding joy in the ordinary moments most people scroll past. Her smile, she says, isn't proof that life is perfect. It's proof that she's learned to build peace on purpose.
I sat down with Linah to talk about where her love for beauty and content creation started, how motherhood has changed her, her skincare philosophy, and what she wants the people discovering her page to really know about her.
What drew you to content creation, especially around beauty and aesthetics?
I've always loved beauty, aesthetics, and creating things that make people feel something. Content creation became a way for me to express myself creatively while building a space that feels calm, beautiful, and inspiring. I wanted to create the kind of content I'd enjoy watching myself.
You always come across so grounded and at peace online. What's the secret to that?
I remind myself that the world already has enough noise. I can't control everything around me, but I can choose how I show up. Protecting my peace, keeping a small circle, and finding joy in simple moments helps me stay grounded. My smile isn't because life is perfect, it's because I've learned that peace is something you create.

You're also a mother. How has that shaped you?
Motherhood has taught me patience, unconditional love, and how much strength I actually have. Watching someone grow because of the love and care you pour into them is something that's difficult to put into words. It's challenging, but it's also one of the most rewarding experiences.
What does success look like for you a few years from now?
To build a life that feels peaceful, purposeful, and free. I want to create a successful brand, inspire people through my creativity, and give my family a comfortable life while still being able to enjoy the little moments that truly matter.
Outside of content creation, what do you enjoy doing?
I genuinely enjoy creating content, trying new makeup looks, taking aesthetic photos, listening to music, watching a good series, and spending quiet time with the people I love. I'm definitely someone who enjoys peaceful moments more than crowded places.
Your skin always looks great. What does your skincare routine actually look like?
I keep it pretty simple: cleanse, hydrate, moisturize, and never skip sunscreen during the day. I believe consistency beats having a shelf full of products. Healthy skin is built over time, not overnight.
What was growing up like for you, and how has it shaped who you are today?
Growing up taught me a lot about resilience and appreciating the little things. Some of my favourite memories are the simple ones, laughing with family, moments that seemed ordinary at the time, experiences that quietly shaped who I am today. I think those moments stay with you the longest.

What would you want people just discovering your page to know about you?
I'd want them to know that what you see here is genuinely me. I'm still growing, still learning, and I want this to be a space where beauty, creativity, and authenticity come together. Whether you're here for makeup, inspiration, or just good vibes, I'm really glad you're here.
