In November 2024, I hit 25,000 followers on LinkedIn. It’s a milestone that I never imagined I’d reach when I joined LinkedIn in June 2011.

I was charged with creating awareness for the newly opened co-working space in Nairobi ahead of a media launch. The campaign was ultimately awarded the Best Attended Event in Africa internally by the company. Since then, I have been able to work with technology companies, travel companies, and other brands as an influencer.
- Approached with job offers: I often get job offers via my LinkedIn inbox; they range from technology companies to ad agencies. Locations also vary; from Dubai to Nairobi. That’s the best thing about having a well-optimized profile on LinkedIn. Recruiters approach you. While I’ve had to turn down the offers since I am currently focusing on building my startup, it goes a long way to show the opportunities the platform brings once you’ve invested in your personal brand.
- Funding opportunities for my startup: In the past 1 year alone, I have been approached by at least 5 potential investors who have had interest in my startup, Tranquil Media Group. The latest one was from November 2024, and the investor is a veteran in the US media industry.
- Land scholarship opportunities: Due to my well-documented work over the years, it is easy to convince scholarship committees to offer me opportunities to study. So far, I have landed study opportunities worth over 60,000 USD in the past 5 years.
- Mentor other professionals: From time to time, I get to mentor young professionals in various areas of interest; from journalism to climate action. My latest engagement was being a Scale Mentor with the Mercedes Benz Fellowship in 2024. It was a rewarding experience. There’s always an opportunity to learn from young people with unique perspectives.
